Successful reduction of water consumption at LÄPPLE Automotive

Thanks to innovative measures to conserve resources, LÄPPLE Automotive has been able to more than halve its water consumption at its Heilbronn site over the past five years. Fresh water consumption in 2023 was a record low of 6,876.22 m³. Through targeted measures to conserve resources, this consumption has been more than halved since 2018 (14,820.08 m³).

Most of the water consumed is used in sanitary facilities and for cooling production equipment. The use of closed cooling circuits for large presses and equipment has significantly reduced the demand for fresh water. These systems keep the cooling water in circulation, which significantly reduces water consumption.

State-of-the-art cooling technology is also being used in new investments, and older systems are being gradually overhauled and retrofitted. Filter systems for water treatment and recycling are used within the production processes to keep the water in circulation.

The Teublitz site is also showing positive developments. Fresh water consumption was reduced by almost 7% to 25,527 m³ in 2023 compared to 2018. Cooling water consumption even fell by around a third, from 6,402 m³ (2018) to 4,322 m³ (2023).

Thanks to the water reduction measures, there is already a positive effect on the ecological footprint of the sites. Continuous improvement and further modernization of the facilities offer even more potential for conserving resources.
