Our innovative strength is evident where the future becomes an application: in the development of new forming technologies, in resource-saving production processes and in joint projects with our partners. Whether complex component geometries, high-strength materials or mixed construction methods for electromobility - today we are working on solutions that are actively shaping the mobility transition. In doing so, we combine technological excellence with the aim of producing in a CO₂-optimized, efficient and market-oriented manner.

Digital twins, end-to-end simulations and virtual process chains enable us to implement new forming solutions faster, more reliably and more economically. We simulate feasibility, material behavior and process stability as early as the concept phase. This allows us to shorten development times, minimize risks and ensure quality from the very first component.

During body part production, we use product twins - digital images of each body part. This allows us to optimize processes, ensure the highest quality and create full transparency. Every step is traceable - for maximum efficiency and traceability.

Our forming processes are intelligent - thanks to sensor technology, data analysis and adaptive tool systems. Real-time data from production flows directly into the process control, which means that quality and output are continuously optimized.

Our team is also researching innovations in the traditional field of toolmaking and has developed a patented composite tool that enables parts to be produced with just one press stroke instead of the previous five.

We manufacture components from high-strength steels, aluminum or mixed construction concepts that optimally combine lightweight construction and crash safety. Intelligent material combinations result in solutions with high functionality and reduced mass - crucial for range and energy efficiency, especially in electromobility and future vehicle concepts.

Electromobility places new demands on components, materials and safety. We are on the ball here and produce specific components such as battery housings that are optimally designed for thermal, structural and packaging-related requirements. We provide the specific finishes required to guarantee special requirements, such as special corrosion resistance, etc.

For us, technological progress also means responsibility: with CO₂-optimized processes, energy-efficient production and recyclable materials, we improve the environmental footprint of our products and locations. We continuously increase our own efficiency through holistic process optimization - from tools to logistics.

A key success factor in this is our employees. They know their work processes inside out - and are often the first to recognize where energy can be saved or resources used more efficiently. As part of our company-wide energy challenge, for example, we have already come up with numerous ideas that have a big impact with little effort.

With the Multi-Functional Die (MFD), LÄPPLE Automotive is revolutionizing sheet metal forming: A finished component is created in just one press stroke - instead of the previous 4-6 steps. This saves time, costs and CO₂ and increases quality and process reliability. The MFD has been successfully validated in several projects. It is ideal for flat geometries - and makes sheet metal forming more efficient and sustainable.

In use in all new series systems since 2024: with our product twin, we create complete transparency across all production systems. The precise recording of process data down to sensor level creates a digital product manufacturing file - it shows exactly under which conditions each component was manufactured. This is made possible by the use of state-of-the-art IoT technologies from the open source sector.

For a new model, LÄPPLE Automotive is manufacturing a housing cover to cover the battery for the first time - and thus a component in the immediate vicinity of the electric powertrain. This project marked a change in processes and mindset: higher quality requirements, additional tests and special requirements for surfaces and joints called for new skills - which our team successfully built up.

Artificial intelligence - structured, practical and future-oriented

We recognized the potential of artificial intelligence for our industry early on. At the beginning of 2024, LÄPPLE Automotive qualified for the renowned KI-Transfer+ program of the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs. Together with leading partners such as AppliedAI, we have developed our company-specific AI strategy - with clear guidelines, defined goals and a structured approach.

Since then, we have been bringing the topic into our organization with speed and substance: in administration, LLM-based assistants support everyday work, in production we are working on use cases for an AI colleague who recognizes, optimizes and supports processes. We are also working with AI start-ups in areas such as financial accounting, order management and the analysis of customer-specific requirements.
